“Whoever relieves a Muslim of distress, Allah will relieve him of distress on the Day of Resurrection” [Bukhari]
One in five children under the age of five in parts of Yemen, is estimated to be acutely malnourished.
Malnutrition is threatening the lives of millions in Yemen.
The country currently faces the worst malnutrition crisis on earth after 6 deadly years of civil war.
More than 1 million women and 2 million children are in urgent need of treatment and nutritious, life-saving food to survive.
According to UNICEF, an estimated 462,000 children suffer from severe acute malnutrition in Yemen. This is almost three times the level of the disease in 2014.
The malnutrition levels are rising quickly and if not treated on time, these children are 11 times more at risk of dying than healthy children.
We must act fast – Yemen needs you.
Now, already suffering due to the civil war, famine and malnutrition, Yemenis are facing another life-threatening disease: cholera.
Cholera has killed thousands of people so far. When the outbreak happened in 2016, it quickly became the largest and fastest-growing outbreak of the disease in modern history. Today, Yemen is still struggling to cope.
And its children are being hit the worst.
Thanks to your kind donations, we have helped 126,000 people with cholera so far – but we need your help to keep going.
Without urgent intervention, many more will perish.
You can help provide:
£20 Cholera hygiene kit – This is an individual pack for one and can prevent the spread of the disease in places with poor sanitation.
£60 Malnutrition kit – This includes nutritious food items to feed a malnutrition-prone family of seven for a month.
£40 Food parcel – Families in Yemen are going days without food. Our food parcel includes enough food to feed a family of seven for an entire month.
£15 Free pharmacy support – A monthly donation of £15 can support our free pharmacy and ensure that it stays open. Providing free medicine to those who can’t afford it.
£20 Water truck – Each truck can provide clean safe water to about 900 people.
£170 Water tank for a household – This will ensure that a family has enough water. Most families do not have access to water and basic sanitation.
We are on the ground creating awareness of cholera in Yemen. We are educating people by distributing leaflets about keeping safe to help stop the spread of the disease.
We are also building pharmacies that are providing free medicine to those most in need. So far we have reached 760 people with vital medical supplies.
We are also distributing cholera and malnutrition kits to families who are struggling with the disease to help restore them to health.
Mercy Relief is working around the clock in Yemen to ensure we can reach the most vulnerable. But we can’t continue without your support – help us keep going.
Despite the on-going civil war, we need your help to protect the people of Yemen from malnutrition and cholera today.
