YEMEN, THE WORST HUMANITARIAN CRISIS THE WORLD HAS SEEN IN 100 YEARS IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW ON OUR WATCH.

Please help us reach our target of £20,000

SJR Foundation are launching their emergency appeal and are working in partnership with Mercy Relief which is a specialist charity operating exclusively in Yemen. Mercy Relief are on the ground right now working tirelessly to protect the most vulnerable.

Yemen is running out of food, water, electricity and medical supplies. More than five years of conflict have left many Yemenis on the verge of death, their economy in tatters and their institutions facing near-collapse.

Four people out of every five, 24 million people in all, need lifesaving aid in what remains the world’s largest humanitarian crisis”, said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

Since the start of the year, some 80,000 more people were forced from their homes, bringing the total internally displaced people to almost four million.

Two million children are suffering from acute malnutrition. It is estimated that a child dies every 10 minutes from malnutrition in Yemen.

Injured children helplessly await medical help in one of Yemens few hospitals.

We need to act urgently, coronavirus is spreading rapidly, with data suggesting a much higher rate of severe illness and death than in many other countries, Covid-19 is worsening an already dire situation.

This year alone 110,000 people have contracted cholera so far and recent floods have raised the risk of malaria and dengue fever further adding strain to a crippled healthcare system.

Mercy Relief will distribute 100% of the funds raised through our appeal to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to the people of Yemen through;

– Emergency Aid

– delivering food Parcels

– Bread Factory

– taking care of orphans

– providing water

– providing healthcare and addressing malnutrition

– offering Covid-19 assistance
